Why We Give

The Bible is clear. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 says, “They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”

All believers are expected to support the work of the Lord done through the Church. Together, United Methodists do remarkable ministry around the world. We care for survivors recovering from earthquakes and storms; we invest,  long term, in vulnerable communities; we equip the next generation to lead the church and society. We strive to stay mission-minded and be the cornerstone for our community. In all of this, we share the good news of Jesus Christ and minister in Jesus’ name. We give because God first gave to us.

In addition to planned giving in the future, please consider sending your tithes for immediate use by the church by  click on the TITHES menu selection under the GIVING dropdown option at the top of this page.

Planned Giving

Preparing an estate plan is good Christian stewardship; saying thanks to God, expressing your  love and concern for family and showing charity toward others.

Planned gifts can be given at any time but are most commonly willed before the donor has passed away. The gift (bequeath) is arranged by the donor in their will or trust without fear of how it will affect their future finances. These gifts may be cash, land or other assets.

What are the benefits of making a bequest?

  1. A bequest does not go into effect until you are promoted to heaven, so it will not affect your current finances at all.
  2. Through a bequest, you are leaving a legacy of your life and faith here at FMC.
  3. Since anyone can make a bequest, it allows you to help bless the ministry of your church for years to come.
  4. You may lessen the burden of taxes on your family and may receive estate tax savings.

How do I make a bequest?

A bequest is one of the easiest gifts to make. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift to Beggs First Methodist Church as part of your estate plan.

What are my options?

A bequest can be made in several ways:

  1. You can gift a specific dollar amount or asset
  2. You can gift a percentage of your estate
  3. You can gift from the balance or residue of your estate
  4. You can make a beneficiary designation of certain assets
